If something is important then it must be measurable

The only question is, how  can that measurement be made as accurate as possible?   In education it will never be as accurate as the time on a clock.   Sometimes it will be as accurate as test/examination marks.  Usually it will be more akin to questionnaire opinions or attitudes.  Measurement is an intrinsic part of any interview, interviewers must judge the answers obtained and decide what to do next.  In writing up their research, researchers must define terms and select their words with precision.
